Edible fashion show & Chocolate dinner

Recently, I attended the World Gourmet Summit's Edible fashion show & chocolate dinner featuring Paco & Jacob Torreblanca, Janice Wong and Matthew Woolford. Held at W Singapore, we were served a five-course meal that featured chocolate as an key ingredient. Also featured that night was the world's most perfectly cut diamond, Hearts On Fire, brought in by TianPo.

Food for the night was created by Matthew Woolford, Executive Chef of W Singapore- Sentosa Cove.

Pistachio crusted hamachi, white chocolate emulsion & passion fruit with deZaan Gourmet Passion 34% paired with Bottega Prosecco Brut Vino Dei Poeti

Foie gras mousse, chilled lobster tail & chocolate ganache with deZaan Gourmet Equador 70% paired with 2007 Bottega Vino Dei Poeti Brunello Docg

Twice cooked beef short rib, chocolate bourbon reduction, carrot purree with deZaan Gourmet Ovation 71% paired with 2009 Vino Degi Dei Amarone Docg

Caramel mille feuille with raspberry & mint leaves

There was a soup we had but it wasn't very picture worthy so... oops! The dinner was followed by a fashion show which featured the Hearts On Fire collection modeled by Miss World Singapore contestants. Award-winning patissiers, Parco and Jacob Torrenblanca and Janice Wong from 2am:lab collaborated with NAFA student Bhavana Sadhwani to create tantalizing chocolate dresses.

The diamonds in Hearts On Fire are polished 10 times more than the industry's standards, thus resulting in perfectly symmetrical fire bursts every time. The models that night showcased up to 200 carats of diamonds in total, with a combined value of S$2.4 million. Just for some knowledge, the Illa Constellation bracelet below is priced at S$670, 990.

By the way, just for the night, I was treated to a chance to use the Leica D-Lux 6! When I had to return it, I almost couldn't let go because the experience was just wonderful! I was surprised by how clear the pictures were, especially when you have zoomed in on an object. The camera takes stable shots even though you're moving and would automatically focus without you 'half-pressing' the shutter button. The different modes it had were good and the manual mode was fun to use. I enjoyed using the 'food' mode when taking pictures of our specially created dishes for the night. The only few let downs for me was the zoom which could not go as far as the Canon point-and-shoots and that the runway photos didn't turn out as good as I expected. However, the pictures came out amazingly sharp whenever I used the zoom function! Nevertheless, I liked it a lot and am definitely considering buying one!

All pictures were taken using a Leica D-Lux 6.
