Menswear: N. Tyler

This week has been one crazy hectic week for me. Some of you have been wondering what I've been up to since I graduated. Well, I've been busy blogging here, attending events and being involved in my church's Easter musical! This time, I've stepped up to be the costume designer on top of my role of an actor and a dancer in the musical. That actually has been taking up most of my time but I'm really glad for this opportunity to learn and apply my design skills!

Anyway, I was supposed to update my blog with a post on a menswear collection yesterday but was way too tired to do anything after I got home from the Little Man Block Party II! I hope some of you managed to go down there because it was an AWESOME party!

Back to my post,  today, we look at N. Tyler's Spring Summer 2013 collection. Designed for the sartorialist with the boyish charm, the UK-inspired men's clothing line updates classics with new fabrics and modern cuts. Their latest collection reflects strong influences from 'The Great Gatsby' (from the 20s) and 'Saville Row' (famous for men's bespoke tailoring).

Customers who love the glamour of the 20s would like the new range of handsome three-piece suits, each made from rich European fabric in a luxuriously dark colour palette of deep blues, greys and blacks. Taking much inspiration from 'The Great Gatsby', the looks can be jazzed up to pay homage to the villainous Mr Wolfsheim or glamourous of Mr Gatsby.

Despite taking inspiration from the 20s and Saville Row, I like how N. Tyler has adapted these concepts to modern cuts. For one, the looks seem to be done in a slimmer cut than in was in the 20s. The shorts hugs the model's skinny legs comfortably, and the pants are folded up above the ankles to show off some socks. Funnily, the collection does remind me of the dapper gentlemen 'The Wobblers' from Glee! Indeed, N. Tyler has been made for the contemporary stylish man.

N. Tyler is located at B2-118 of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
