Yumumu Spring Summer 2013

Local designer Lu Yilin from Yumumu is back from her sabbatical with her spring/summer 2013 collection. During her time away, she interned at Christopher Kane which I feel, brought a fresh dimension to her clothes.

This collection is mostly made out of digital prints and contrasting colours on simple, minimalistic yet interesting cuts. Drawing inspiration from symbols and images that are common in urban living, Lu, questioned the way we frame our physical and psychological spaces as we move in and out of the city.

For example, lines in a picture (like in the print above) can resemble blinds in a window to the outside world or lights on the street.

A image of a road on the horizon makes you think of an idyllic road trip or a road to nowhere.

Personally, I am in love with this collection. I adore the modern shapes and cuts that are very easy to wear and the wise use of colour and print. The bold shapes and visible zips in yellow are my favourite, especially when it is contrasted with an icy colour like grey.

Prices range from $129 to $199 for a top and $299 to $369 for a dress.

You can visit www.yumumu.com for more on the collections (the online shop isn't ready yet). Yumumu is also stocked at Antipodean in Holland Village or at Society of Black Sheep at Marina Bay Sands.

PS: Happy weekend guys! Are you going for any rallies today? I may, for the Workers' Party one!
