Hong Kong: Museum of History

Today, mom and I visited the Hong Kong Museum of History. I like to know the history and culture of every city I go to and often, the best place is the history museum.

The Hong Kong Museum of History surpassed my expectations. Hong Kong has history dating back to prehistoric times.

We whizzed through the geological section and went to the cultural section. The museum constructed life sized houses and temples for visitors to experience the life of a resident. They placed great effort in the depiction of festivals from the food to rituals involved.

My favourite section was level three where they had the retro products our parents used to use! My mom was happily telling me the pencils she had, the comic books she used to read and all. The museum even constructed a road with a few stores including a Cheongsam tailor and a Chinese medicinal hall.

A pleasant surprise was that there was free admission today (Wednesday). We rented the audio guide but realized at the end that we hardly used it. The museum has English subtitles with every informational board and even in the films they screen.

Take a look around when you get tired of shopping! The museum is located near Tsim Sha Shui at 100 Chatnam Road South.
