HELLO :) I'm back from Hong Kong! Having spent four days there shopping leisurely, I figured out great shopping places, of which some are filled with indie stores!
1. SoHo: This place has the mid-levels escalator, the world's longest travellator. I love the walk from Central MTR station, where you walk through The Landmark shopping mall, down to the streets. Then you walk past the only Cos in Hong Kong, a scandinavian fashion brand I adore. And then up to the 0.8km of travellators that brings you through a side of SoHo. There are many restaurants there and great food, including the famous Tai Cheong Bakery located at Lyndhurst Terrace. They have quaint shops there and the charm is probably in the sloppy roads of Soho :)
2. Star Street: This place can be compared to Ann Siang Hill in Singapore. It's small and the number of indie shops can be counted with your fingers. Sun Street, in particular, has a row of stores which includes the Monocle store, Kapok, a vintage store and Club Monaco Men. However, don't get your hopes up high for the Monocle store as it is very small! Star Street also has the Agnes B. Gallerie I blogged about a few days ago. (PS: There's a cute furniture store opposite the road called The Blacksmith)
3. Causeway Bay: A place everyone would know in Hong Kong is Times Square in Hong Kong. The shopping mall boasts 9 floors of shopping, with stores ranging from high end luxury to mid prices like Zara and DKNY. They're having a Lego christmas exhibition now if you're going soon!
But beyond Times Square, there are interesting small shops on the other side at Lockhart Place. And oh, there's also a 5 storey Forever 21 opposite Hysan Place nearby and the new Burberry flagship store opposite Times Square!
4. Tsim Sha Shui: I've been there a few times to shop and often never felt like I've really discovered Hong Kong. This trip, I uncovered a pretty new mall called K11 that takes an effort to feature artists in their modern mall. On the second floor, they have a section featuring younger brands like Nixon. They have an Awfully Chocolate in their mall too! Also located in Tsim Sha Shui is Harbour City and iSquare. I've been to Harbour City twice and the only shop I liked the most was Zara (as always). They have Joyce there, an equivalent of a Club21 here!
5. IFC: Easy to get to, the mall is located near the Ferry terminal on Hong Kong Island and has the Hong Kong MTR underneath it. I liked the Apple store, Greyhound restaurant from Thailand and Lane Crawford there. Oh, there's Juicy Couture too!
6. Collect Point: I know that Lowry's Farm is in Singapore but they didn't bring in Nico and..., another wonderful brand from Japan! Not only do they have casual bohemian styled Japanese clothing, this store has furniture too! These stores are housed in the basement of Miramall, near Tsim Sha Shui. There's a store on the second level called Twist that was having big markdowns on some branded goods. And they carried Proenza Schouler bags!! <3
Ah, that's a lot of shopping places yes? Lemme know if you know any more!
