Happy Deepavali to all Indian readers :) For the rest who do not know what Deepavali is, it's an Indian New Year, also known as The Festival of Lights.
Anyway, I finally got down to making my own Gucci New Bamboo after my tests were over last week but sadly, it didn't really turn out the way I wanted it to :( I was going for an oxblood crocodile leather look with golden studs but some things just don't look that great 2D. I tried to salvage it with some oxblood coloured nail polish and gold fabric paint but.. #epicfail.
Then again, I shouldn't be too upset because Gucci donates $100 to MILK for every bag created so who cares how ugly my bag is? :) I put in my own effort and helped some people in the process.

Coincidentally, NYMag's The Cut just ran a little spread on Oxblood and featured a clutch from Oscar de la Renta above! *swoon*
The process of making a bag was fun though :) Having the structure set for you and the freedom to play with materials was fun. I actually wanted to go crazy with prints but knowing that Gucci doesn't do prints on their bags, I decided to think more practically.
Well, happy holidays everyone :)
I'm beyond obsessed with oxblood as well it's my favorite color of the moment! It's so gorgeous, and that Oscar de la Renta clutch is so stunning, oh my. I need to find something like that for cheaper, I'm totally coveting it right now :(
ReplyDeleteI think your creation looks pretty! I'd never be able to achieve something like that, or have the patience to continue with it. Seems like you put a ton of effort in creating it. And it's for an amazing cause - thanks for sharing with us! (:
There's a new post up on my blog right now and I'd love to hear your thoughts on it so feel free to stop by! Happy Deepavali! (:
