Yesterday's walk through MacRitchie ended up to be a very epic one for me. If you continue reading, you'd discover my passion for eating.
Fiona was telling me about the tree-top walk she went to a long time ago so I agreed to walk towards it (blindly). An hour into the walk, we came across the exit to Lornie Road but I declined the offer because we didn't get to our destination yet. Oh boy, was the walk long. We walked through the jungle to Singapore Island Country Club, walked along the courses and sometimes didn't even know if we were on the right path. Finally when we hit a boardwalk, I thought, YES we are almost there!
With tired limbs, we continued to press on to our goal but the journey seemed to feel like forever. By the time we were at the base of the Treetop walk, it was 10:30 a.m. and McDonald's breakfast was ending soon. Hmm, why did I mention Macs? That's because I thought our walk was going to end at 10 a.m. as usual so I was planning to grab some hotcakes after that. But we were still stuck in the jungle with 30 minutes left to order breakfast and were still very far off from the exit.
The Treetop walk was nice though. I was pretty frightened by the shaking suspension bridge but I do love heights a lot so looking down didn't scare me. However, I think the 2 hour walk to the bridge from MacRitchie just wasn't worth it. The experience, frankly speaking, can be replicated at Hort Park or any other place that is built among the canopies. So, I don't know why HSBC had to sponsor the construction of the bridge.
Anyway, back to the hotcakes. With 30 minutes left, I made a call out of the jungle to McDonald's delivery. Oh the desperation for food. I'm sorry but I really do love my food a lot. All I wanted was my hotcakes with sausage but to get it delivered, I had to order a minimum of $10 of food so I ordered today's breakfast too (super!). And after that, I still had to pay $4 of delivery surcharge. Goodness, this hunger... *tsk tsk*
After I confirmed my order, I made a call back home to ask mom to help me pay for it because I may not be back by the time the food came. (Stuck in the jungle foreveeeer!!) We were talking and talking and then mom told me not to eat these 'junk food' for breakfast. While waiting for my reply, Fiona suddenly grabbed my hand and pointed at this brown moving thing. It was a Pangolin!
I immediately screamed into the phone, "AHHH!" and my mom said, "okay" and hung up. HAHAH?! Anyway, the Pangolin may look really scary but it's actually really harmless! It's an anteater and apparently, it's rare to be able to see this so, I'm thankful I met you Mr. Pangolin :)
So thanks to the man who we met at the Treetop Walk, we walked another 2.5km to the nearest exit, hitched a ride from him back to our cars and I went home to my hotcakes, which were waiting for me.
Those 3 hours of 7km walk was way too epic for me. Thanks for the experience though, Fiona <3
Moral of the story: If you'd like to head to Treetop walk, park at Venus Drive and walk 2.5km in. Always plan your route ;)
Don't know if you get the whole story but thanks for reading anyway!
