Jewelfest with mom!

Hello all :) It's mid week already, two days away from Wednesday! It's also my busiest day because Future Fashion Now (FFN) happens tonight!

Anyway, on Monday, I headed to JewelFest's VIP night with mom! This was the first time I brought my mom along to a media event and it turned out to be a lot of fun for both of us! Mom is very knowledgable in coloured gems, unlike me. I would comment on the beautiful colour and the design but she could identify the gem and tell whether it's good or not!

To show off the gems, there was also a short fashion show featuring jewellry from the designers present. Well, that was when I lost my mom in the crowd. After the show ended, I walked the whole show space frantically trying to find her and lo and behold, she was at Tian Po booth talking to a designer for the Israeli brand Yvel. He had a beautiful collection of baroque pearls which mom loves very much. The piece of the show was a ring with a pearl approximately my age with a price tag of SGD54,000. *WHOAAA* I loved it so much too because it had fantastic luster but the price tag is a mega ouch!

And yes everyone, meet my mom. Many people say I look like the younger version of her, which is a compliment to both of us! I know after she reads this and sees her photo up here, she's going to ask me 'why did you put my photo up?' but hehe, hi mom. 

One of the highlights was this SGD8.8 million dollar watch. You can just stand at the display for 10 minutes and watch it turn round and round... Truly enchanting! 

Anyway, they just changed the line up of designers today at Jewelfest at Ngee Ann City! I went down for a short while during my break between lessons to see Lee Hwa's new collection of Destinee in glass , which features a diamond set in glass. So for the first time, you are able to admire the whole diamond from every angle! This technology came from a company in Austria and Lee Hwa is the only company in Singapore with license to use it.  

By the way, the diamond in the necklace on the left is 0.1 carats big (or small?) but to the naked eye, it looks like 1 carat! How's that for a magnification of your diamond? ;)
