Future Fashion Now Spring Summer 2013

Hello you! Sorry for the late update today. If you noticed, I changed all my social networking 'add me' buttons to simple ones at the side. Getting that up wasn't very easy but I had fun as always, customising and coding my site!

Anyway, yesterday I was camping at Wisma for the Future Fashion Now (FFN) shows! They had three shows yesterday featuring emerging 10 designers from Asia and beyond. This was the first time I enjoyed myself at a runway show soooooo much for so many reasons!

Held at Wisma, the W.E workshop element space was so easy to get to. There was a good range of food a level up at Food Republic, Starbucks on the same floor, Sour Sally's at the basement... The best thing about it was that the space was so cosy, it was easy to get to meet people! (Please hold it there again FFN!!)

A mega plus was the selection of designers at FFN! I enjoyed every show so much! The collections were all modern and contemporary showing a good balance of the creative and commercial sides.

From yesterday's shows,  my personal favourites were Khoon Hooi, Juma and Jonathan Liang primarily because of my love for colours and prints. Khoon Hooi did them on silk, which was very elegant and yet young. Juma had a fantastic colourful tie-dye look while Jonathan Liang surprised with a touch of neon with prints and some 3D flowers.

Special mention goes out to Evenodd for their digital batik-like prints in their menswear collection! The mix with metallic fabric on the sleeves made the jacket a hit.

The local labels like Elohim by Sabrina Goh, Saturday, Mae Pang and Evenodd also showed very strong collections. Ong Shunmugam, in particular, was able to fuse elements of traditional chinese clothing with modern cuts well. From yesterday's presentation, I noticed that the collections presented were much stronger than before. This could possibly be because of the FFN exposure (they went to Paris Fashion Week!) and network they are now part of.

Also a local Singaporean brand but a new one to me was Dzojchen. Somehow I had the impression that the brand came from New York! I loved how they used traditional Indonesian fabrics, modernized the patterns and made it into a jacket. The blazer, paired with hot shorts was a stunner!

German label Saena was one of my favourites during FFN at Audi Fashion Festival 2012. The feminine loose fit was something that reminded me of a Chloe girl. Back then, the palette was sweeter with more pinks and lilacs. This time, the palette was more earthy with yellows to reds.

The Spring Summer 2013 collections can now be purchased on FutureFashionNow.com. Ah, I'm sooooooo tempted to buy Juma's psychedelic tie-dye dress!

By the way, I was all pink from head to toe yesterday! My mom said I look like Bandung but hoho, I had so much fun being dressed in one of my favourite colours! I'll post pictures of that sometime soon! ;)
