Yesterday, Zouk brought back Mambo Jambo. It may sound pretty foreign to you but that's because they stopped it a few years ago. The unique thing about it is that people all dance to the songs with the same moves, pretty much like wii dance but this came way before that did!
Funny thing was that it was my very first time at Mambo! I went with my cousins & siblings (yes, how awesome is that) and had such a good time really dancing! What I appreciate about Mambo is that people are actually dancing! Even though they do repetitive movements, I feel that's way better than just bobbing up and down to music.
To really appreciate Mambo, you have to at least know the songs! You can pick up the movements there though it may be quite tough in the darkness but at least, sing along to the songs! I was pretty amused by all the people standing by the podium at midnight, secretly waiting for their moment to head up and save their spot! And boy, those people who are up there really know their moves! They know what to do in between songs and when a song starts, they know which song it is! Mambo ended so long ago, which made me wonder if they've been practicing at home for a long time!
The great thing about Mambo too is that anyone who knows the moves can be on the podium. The best ones are usually a bit on the plum side. I found it really cute because you hardly see them around on other nights but on Mambo nights, they rule the dance floor! Some of them really have groove and they do the movements with such passion, there's nothing you can do but clap for them!
Well, it's really a pity that Mambo has ended. I would have loved it so much because it takes the 'dirtiness' out of clubbing and brings you back to pure innocent fun :)
Ps: I wore what I wore to work and church, to the club! That's called 'Dressing for all occasions'. HAHA!
Psps: OH, I had my first try at Long Island Tea yesterday. (Yes, I'm such a noob!). Verdict: Bleaaaugh! Whoever said it was sweet and nice was wrong.
