Support me!

Hi guys! If you've been wondering what I've been doing since I graduated less than month ago, well, I have been preparing my portfolio for applications to fashion schools around the world!

And for the first time ever, Parsons The New School of Design has started a competition online which I am qualified to enter! The prize is a scholarship to study there, which would be perfect. There are so many fashion schools out there and the two most well known would be Central Saint Martin's and Parsons. If you're looking for a school that teaches you to channel your creativity into commercial works of art, google Parsons.

So for the first time ever, I have revealed a bit of my portfolio online in a Youtube video for The New School competition. I haven't done so before because I knew very little on what a portfolio is made of. Just two months ago, my good friend Leanne was coaching me through the process. I don't know whether it's good enough yet but I know I've put in lots of hard work into it.

Anyway, if you think I deserve to study there, you can write me a recommendation here :) Some of my friends have done so, so you are not alone! Thank you in advance <3 <3

  1. Hi Dawn, I admire your courage to stray from the typical career path in your pursuit of fashion. Although I am a novice in this area, I would just like to share with you my thoughts on your collection.

I feel that your inspiration of fishes is presented a little too literally in your clothes. It would potentially be more interesting if you could use the colors, texture or structure of fishes into your clothes (e.g. bright colors of fishes, or maybe 'scale-y texture' softened by using chiffon?).

Perhaps you could understand what I mean by watching Project Runway Season 8 Episode 11. The contestants were asked to make clothes, with the inspiration being birds. The judges didn't like that some contestants used feathers on their clothes, because the interpretation was too literal. And by the way, it was held at Parsons School of Design. ;)

    1. Hey you! Thank you for your honest feedback! Although i don't know who you are, it's really nice to get feedback from people with experience (and a fan of project runway!)
I see where youre coming from with my collection :) Perhaps because I was initially looking to do fashion prints that my fish collection turned out this way. Nonetheless, I do agree with you and I will push on to discover more in the future! <3 thank youuu!
