I have been in Hong Kong for nearly two months now and have had the privilege of meeting some accomplished and talented people. A few weeks into my stay, I met up with Jennifer Mak, a handbag designer who recently showcased her collection at Blueprint 2013, Singapore’s fashion tradeshow. Stocked under Curated Editions and Future Fashion Now, Jennifer’s bags have been gaining press coverage in Singapore since her event in August Women.

A graduate from the Columbia Business School, Jennifer has worked in New York City for prestigious luxury goods companies like Hermes and Loro Piana. With invaluable experience in hand, she launched her eponymous handbag label last year. Check out her collection at www.jennifermak.com.

With her showroom in New York and her manufacturing studio in Hong Kong, Jennifer spends her time shuttling back and forth between the two cities. For a young label, JENNIFER MAK has an impressive line of handbags that caters to a woman’s every need, from clutches to shoulder bags, satchels to totes. All of the bags are hand-made using the finest exotic skins, which have been selected and imported from Italy and elsewhere. In addition, Jennifer’s clutches all feature her signature clasp, which is wrapped with stingray leather and topped with a Swarovski crystal. Other signatures include exposed stitching and braided leather accents and she often hand-paint on her bags to make them even more unique.

After her recent introduction into Singapore, the talented entrepreneur now has her eyes set on United Arab Emirates and China. There is no doubt the brand will keep growing where the intelligent Jennifer desires. Perhaps before we know it, there is a JENNIFER MAK store opening on the streets of New York.
