Somehow it always happens that when I decide to leave the country for a few days, tonnes of event invites would pour in for that period of time! One of the events I missed out on was the Valentino and ValentinoRed press preview.
Just by looking at the first and last look of the Valentino Fall Winter 2013 collection, it already shows howValentino always speaks of elegance and grace at any age. I feel that I have only come to understand the Valentino design philosophy in the past few years after reaching womanhood. When we're younger, our dressing can be quite trashy (oh, young people can pull anything off indeed) but to truly respect ourselves with grace would be to dress like how Valentino suggests.
Inspired by the taste of colour and glorification of everyday life in paintings by Flemish masters, Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli created another feminine collection with sleek silhouettes that are also seemingly severe. Dresses reveal the legs, graces the kness and touch the angle. The square necklines brings attention to the face, revealing a woman's personality and illuminates her features. Details like white leather cut-out collars were added to alpaca coats and little black dresses.
I loved the use of lace and bold colours in this collection. When applied to looks at different lengths and proportions, the looks were kept young and pure. I adored the way the designer duo also incorporated trending cuts like cut out sides and adapted it to their feminine style.
