Discovering the streets of Hong Kong

I've been to Hong Kong a few times but today I realised how much I didn't know about it. Today was officially the first full day spent on house hunting. We started in Central at Soho where the new Topshop was opening and walked all the way to Sheung Wan. We saw apartments in Hollywood Road where the antique shops line the roads, ate lunch at their wet and cooked food market which is like our Chinatown wet market. After that, we chanced upon the Western Market which had a small floor full of cloth! Talk about God ordering the foot steps of men.

Then, we took a tram to Wan Chai. This 40-cent joy ride is one of the things that keeps Hong Kong island so charming. We saw some apartments in Star Street area, walked around the MTR area under the hot sun before ending up at Queensway Place for tea at Simplylife. There, we chanced upon LAB Concepts which has a great variety of beauty product counters, a Shoe Space and a range of clothes featuring American Apparel, House of Holland, Alice + Olivia and more!

After that, we walked over to One Pacific Place to see Sotheby's gallery on the fifth floor. They were having an exhibition of art works that were to be auctioned in London in a month's time. Although it was just a small collection of roughly ten paintings, they were paintings by famous artists I have never seen before. One from Andy Warhol, two from Monet, two from Kandinsky, two from Magritte, one from Mondrian and two from Picasso. The paintings were valued at at least one million each and were probably from someone's private collection.

At the same place, they had a small collection of Jades on display. Mom was telling me how to know whether they're good or not when a man approached us to tell us personally that the collection on display was for private sale and were to be sold at the price displayed. I was impressed with his service because he did not judge us by our pretty casual clothing and still spoke to us like we had banks of billionaires!

After that, we shopped around at Pacific Place which boasts a good collection of luxury brands. I would recommend coming here to shop because it was so empty, as compared to Landmark or IFC!

Well, tomorrow is our last day of house hunting! May we see greater places :)
