Today, I learnt the importance of staying creative in a business-driven industry.
I saw three different shows today at Audi Fashion Festival- Zardoze, Tsumori Chisato and GisellaBlu. Tsumori Chisato was the highlight of my day. Yes, I love prints so I should love her too but sometimes I do find her collections pretty niche.
But somehow this morning at Blueprint, I started to get sick of seeing clean cut clothes with digital prints on them. This print thing was a fad, a trend... but I think it's becoming very overdone and almost meaningless. Most prints that people do have almost no meaning to them which seems pretty sad to me. Fashion, after all, should be an outlet of creativity, much like your personal voice. But you know what? That voice has been becoming the same.
Seeing Tsumori's collection was like a fresh breeze on a hot day. It was different and not everyone would be able to pull it off, but it had a strong voice and a distinct look. Her clothes didn't try to fit into the mould... It brought with it innovation and a sense of curiousity.
So, note to self: Get your own voice in this mass market world.

Note to Zardoze: Drop the Zardoze line and go with the Panthea line instead!

Okay, gotta be up at 9am tomorrow and I'm still awake, blogging at 3am! I don't know why I'm so awake.
