Prabal Gurung Fall Winter 2013

Prabal Gurung's latest collection was inspired by a piece in Time Magazine's "The Best Inventions of 2012" about body armour being made specifically for women. Previously, they were using men's gear but now, they've gotten their own.

That spurred off a whole collection of his version of a guerilla girl. The first look, as seen above, for me was the best. A military uniform was fitted to the body like a woman ready for combat. The look was toughened with leather gloves and a harness and softened at the same time with a peplum and luxurious fur.

Woven fabrics in tribal patterns began to appear in the collection before a whole range of sexy dresses with thigh high slits were sent down the runway. Then, the colours morphed into blues, reds and whites  on dresses made for warrior princesses. Soft silk was draped and wrapped in linear cuts that made a woman look strong and appealing at the same time.

Though this collection was pretty much devoid of prints, I am in love with all of it- especially the dresses. Where's the waiting list for them?
