"I don't explain anything, I have lived... I lived the life I wanted." were the words of Chloé's founder, Gaby Aghion.
Celebrating its 60th anniversary, Clare Waight Keller spent time looking transcripts of Gaby's conversations. Chloé has always been about a woman's state of mind- freedom, confidence, feeling like a woman. And that abstract ideas were translated into easy to wear clothes that brought out a woman's inner strength. She never has to rely on embellishments or tight clothes to make her a woman. It's always like she said 'I am woman, hear me roar' in her spirit.
That being said, the Spring Summer collection was full of beautiful effortless clothes for women. They had feminine details from ruffles on loose fitting tops to light silky dresses with a little shine. Countering the feminine feel was the boxy cut that engulfed a woman's curves. The cut of the season still looked good despite looking shapeless, bringing out the belief that clothes don't define a woman, but instead, a woman defines her clothes.
Key to any Chloé collection is the use of a neutral palette and more pastel colours. That somehow has never held back the French label from churning out fantastic collections season after season. It must be the captivating quality of their Chloé girl that draws customers into stores season after season.
Well, if you're wondering what's new this season in stores, here are some personal favourites from yours truly!
Chloé stores can be found in Takashimaya and DFS Scotts, Terminal 2 and 3 of Changi Airport.
