This is probably the first time ever that I liked a monochrome collection. Alberta Ferretti presented an elegant and feminine collection at the Milan Fashion Week yesterday with looks made up of delicate silk-crepes, lace and romantic embroidery.
The collection was young, with skirts ending above the knees and dresses nipped at the waist. I especially loved her first look with a new peplum look. She turned a simple modern peplum into something softer and more feminine. Her whites, in particular, had an innocence to it. Everything was so light, dreamy and beautiful.
Her evening gowns were even more spectacular. They were fitting for a quiet, romantic night and not once came off as being overtly sexy. It must have been the light ruffles, rose patterned embroidery and beadings that contributed to the looks.
Sandwiched in the middle of the black and whites were jewelled tones. Olive green, cobalt blue, striking red and a beautiful purple were sent down the runway in simple cut dresses with a-line skirts. My favourite was the green dress above with the tulle overlapped with embroidery on the shoulder. It couldn't have been better, really!
Innocent, romantic and feminine will always be in the DNA of Alberta Ferretti and that is why I love her brand.
