If you thought or were hoping that animal prints were going to be a fad, I'm sorry, it's not.
Yesterday, Christopher Bailey presented his autumn winter collection for Burberry Prorsum. The genius never fails to make a collection that appeals to the young, always keeping up with the latest trends and using them to set the next season's.
This collection saw more trench coats done in different ways- single breasted coats, double breasted, short ones, long ones and those with a belt or waist tie. Well, here are the highlights of the show for me:
Firstly, Animal prints. I spent most of my trip in Hong Kong scouring stores for a full leopard print jacket and so, when I saw them on the runway on men, I was so delighted! Animal prints can come off as trashy if they are not done the right way, but Bailey combined them in the right proportions and colours to produce an energetic and exciting collection.
Secondly, olive green jackets mixed with brown leather accessories lined with animal prints. When serious military jackets were juxtaposed with a more playful and casual bag, the whole look came together very very well.
Thirdly, edgy sunglasses. Angular and large, this collection's sunglasses are mostly tortoise shelled or dotted on the frames. They definitely played a major part in keeping the collection very youthful and edgy. Did you also notice that the lens in the picture above are dotted? I'm not sure how that's going to work out in real life but it was sure a pleasant surprise for the runway :)
Fourthly, see through waterproof trench coats. Nothing teases like see-throughs. But when they're coloured, thick and opaque, they're quite a stunner. Yes, they may come off as very rubbery but nonetheless, it adds another dimension to layering.
Fifth on the list, handheld cases. Bailey's definitely been noticing that men often carry big bags but choose to hold their wallets or phone cases wherever they go. Really, with a phone and a wallet, what else do they need?
Lastly, heart prints <3 <3 I doubt men would really wear such coats but Bailey sure dressed a men the women would do so. Thank you Mr Bailey!
What was your favourite look from the whole collection?
