Bomba Paella Bar

Hello from Hong Kong! I flew here this morning to finally see my boyfriend :) After we landed, we went to explore SoHo with the remaining time we had left and had a yummy italian dinner! Some pictures to come :)

Anyway, yesterday night, my family and I went to Bomba Paella Bar at Martin's Road. This paella bar had some really good food. I personally find it difficult to find good paellas around and this one was yummy :)

Named after the spanish rice used in paellas, Bomba serves four varieties of paellas of which three are dry and one is wet. We ordered their signature Langoustine Squid and Prawns Paella along with the squid ink one. Paellas start at $40 for a small pan and come in three different sizes. I enjoyed the paellas a lot and it reminded me of the spanish paellas I had back in Spain many years ago.

Along with that, we ordered the grilled octopus, chickpeas and calms. We enjoyed all of the food that evening and it was no surprise since Chef Jean-Philippe Patruno had a wonderful culinary resume, even having once worked in a 3-Michelin star restaurant Chez Nico on Park Lane.

Unfortunately for us, the only thing that stopped our evening from being perfect was the saltiness in the food. My family and I found the food way too salty in general, and that prevented us from eating to our heart's content. Perhaps my family and I were used to less salty food or maybe the Spanish food that had to be imported over were preserved using salt?

Nonetheless, this place is great for a night out. It has a youthful, hippy vibe like House and great food. A plus for us was that the restaurant doesn't charge service charge.

Bomba Paella Bar is located at No. 38 Martin's Road in the Robertson Quay area.
