Yesterday, Jacobs presented a very clean collection for Louis Vuitton. The theme of LV's classic Damier squares ran consistently throughout the collection and was used on anything and everything possible- dresses, shoes and bags.
Jacobs wowed the crowd with pairs of models descending down escalators before walking down the runway and returning back up. The finale was particularly special because of the uniformity in the formation of models marching down the checkered board runway like an army.
Looks were matched by prints and colour. Sometimes one look was a mirror of another, in the case of the ones with simple graphic prints. The lemon yellows were my favourite although I thought the greens were slightly out of place.

In all, the Louis Vuitton collection was nice but sadly, not wow on design standards. I believe Marc Jacobs can do better and could have potentially hit a dry spell. If you strip down the past two collections to pieces, the Vuitton shows are dangerously becoming all about the theatrics than the clothes. I hope Jacobs gets inspired soon, like the way he did back in Fall Winter 2010!
